C.W. Williams Community Health Center is
Revitalized and Re-engergized
On Saturday, September 19 The C.W. Williams Community Health Center hosted a Community Health Fair in
recognition of Sickle Cell Awareness Month. During the fair, the Center held a
ceremonial ribbon-cutting. CEO Debra Weeks said that “We’re telling
the community we’re revitalized, we’re re-energized to serve them with heart, soul,
passion and determination to provide quality health care in this community.”
Sickle cell disease is an inherited condition affecting the red blood cells, which leads to a variety of complications.
According to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
sickle cell disease occurs among about 1 out of every 500 Black or African American births.
